Call for Abstracts: Appsilon Shiny Conference 2022

Appsilon invites you to submit presentation abstracts for the all-virtual Appsilon Shiny Conference on April 27-29, 2022. All talks relating to R Shiny are acceptable to consideration. These include talks on a Shiny app/dashboard you’ve created, packages you have developed, use-cases of Shiny in your business or research projects, etc. Abstracts will be peer-reviewed by a committee consisting of Appsilon team members, RStudio team members, and members of the Shiny community.

In addition to regular talks, we are also accepting:

  • Shiny apps to be included in the conference Shiny App Showcase
  • Video tutorials (10-20 minutes) on Shiny features and packages

***Submit your abstract proposal by March 1, 2022***

Call for Proposals

Regular talk

Regular talks are an opportunity to share ideas and projects with the community. With 15 minutes for a talk, presenters may dive a little deeper into their project. After the 15 minutes, there will be additional time to answer questions or open a brief discussion with the audience.

Use the Regular talk as a platform to speak about your project and connect with the Shiny community. Join the ranks of Keynotes and Guest Speakers like Diane Beldame of ThinkR, Eric Nantz of the R Podcast, David Granjon of Novartis, Jacqueline Nolis of Saturn Cloud, and many more!

Details

Regular talks will be limited to 15 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for questions following each talk. Most regular talks should be presented live (virtually via video stream) during the conference. Presenters may pre-record their talk ahead of the conference so that their talk is available throughout the conference. Regular talks should be presented in English. Some exceptions may be made for talks delivered in French, Spanish, and Portuguese. All abstracts must be submitted in English, regardless of presentation language to be considered.

Shiny Showcase

The Shiny Showcase is a gallery of unique applications built by Shiny community members, enterprises, and public agencies. Applications accepted include personal projects, academic projects, and commercial applications. We encourage teams to submit their enterprise Shiny applications and present their achievements.

If you’re looking for inspiration explore RStudio’s Shiny App gallery or Appsilon Shiny demos.

Details

You may submit your Shiny app for our Shiny App Showcase, a gallery of Shiny apps accompanied by 5-10 minute pre-recorded video walkthroughs of the application features. We do require that the app be the speaker’s own work or the speaker obtain explicitly, written permission from the creator to present it.

Pre-recorded tutorial

If you prefer to submit a pre-recorded presentation, you may do so with the pre-recorded tutorials. This option provides the opportunity to expand on written tutorials or create updated videos that you may have created. Reach a new audience at your convenience with pre-recorded tutorials.

If you are open to questions, be sure to add contact information so viewers may reach out.

Details

You may submit a 10-20 minute tutorial on a specific Shiny feature or package. The video will be streamed during the conference and shared via Appsilon’s YouTube channel and blog.
